Christopher High School students recently submitted art work in the 50th Annual Scholastic Art Awards Competition. High school students from Fairfield to the tip of southern Illinois submitted work for consideration.
Out of almost 900 works submitted, only 194 received the honor of exhibition. Of those only 54 were awarded Gold Keys. Selena Donovan had two of her works chosen as Gold Key winners. One of those was chosen as the “American Visions Award Nominee.” This is, essentially, one of five pieces of art that would be considered Best in Show.
Her work is being submitted for national consideration in New York City for possible acknowledgement and awards. Selena is a great example of hard work and dedication paying off. Congratulations.
The Boys Basketball Team will be participating in the Johnston City Arrowhead Classic this week. They will begin play tomorrow, Tuesday January 16 vs Du Quoin at 7:30 PM. They will then play Thursday at 6:00 PM vs Anna-Jonesboro, Friday at 7:30 PM vs Johnston City, and will wrap up the tournament on Saturday vs Eldorado at 1:00 PM.

The Lady Bearcats are back in action today as they will be participating in the PAWS Shootout at Central High School in Breese, as they will battle the Indians of Altamont High School. The JV will play at 3:15 PM in the East Gym at Central High School and the varsity will follow at 5:00 PM in the Main Gym at Central High School.
