!!!!!UPCOMING EVENTS!!!!! Happy New Year!!! We have started our 3rd Quarter!! WOW!!! Where has the time gone? We will be moving to first grade before we know it!! We are beginning our transition to be first graders by doing away with our nap time :) Some of the students are missing this, but most enjoy not having to lay down anymore. We are using our "skinny" crayons and pencils. We have started Sustained-Silent-Reading (SSR). This is where the students read silently to themselves. We also are doing journals. Your child will be bringing a journal home after each month! Look through them! They are very interesting and CUTE :) Monday- February 20th- NO SCHOOL!!!! Monday- February 27th- Dismiss at 11:20!!! |
Reading Readiness Our book book this week will be A Pair of Socks. The little book your child will bring home is titled Feet. Our nursery rhyme is "Deedle, Deedle, Dumpling" and the poster is "Left Foot, Right Foot". The popcorns to study for this week are "go" and "all". Predictable Sentence for the week (please help your child come up with a sentence so they are ready for class: My feet ______ . (Name) Monday- Activate Prior Knowledge & first reading of story Tuesday- Talk about character, setting, & plot of the story Wednesday- Echo Read & talk about the sequence of the story Thursday- Choral read & talk about rhyming words Friday- Make book Please review popcorn words with your child!!! They are getting closer to being first graders and it will only help them if they know the popcorn words ;) |

Handwriting The third quarter is the time when we start grading the students on their handwriting. They recieve a grade on their report card! They will be graded on if they make/form their letters correctly when writing the alphabet and their own name, first and last.
